Margaret St, Ponsonby
This long narrow residence provided many challenges with their custom made requirements; small work areas and pitched ceilings demanded precision in execution along with sound planning for the installation process.
The floor-to-ceiling shelving unit, manufactured out of American white oak with quarter-cut finish, is a main feature of the living area. There are no obvious joins, despite its shear length – a testament to clever manufacturing. With recessed lighting and natural warmth from the materials selected, this unit has an impressive presence.
The kitchen continues on with this theme of natural warmth, with stainless steel benchtops wrapped in American white oak. The drawers and cabinets have a recessed handle detail that comprises an anodized aluminium extrusion in behind to allow for a finger cavity.
Solid timber balustrades running floor-to-ceiling had zero tolerance in the spacing, as did the stainless steel upstand under the window.
