This "ultimate kitchen", designed by Natalie Du Bois of Du Bois Design, took out the Kitchen win in the 2015 NZ House & Garden Interior of the Year awards, and then went on to collect Supreme Winner!
The design of this bespoke kitchen required Impeccable attention to detail and precision in the manufacturing of the cabinetry and benchtops, and it could only be trusted to Form Design.
While the entire space feels cohesive, when you break it down and look at the features you see carefully considered details and material choices that elevate this space into another realm.
The kitchen island features a porcelain basin inset into a benchtop made out of three layers of quartz, laminated together, to further accentuate the cornice details which appear at the top of the legs. The front of the island uses a patterned pressed tin, highlighted by hidden LED lighting, to add another level of detail.
Central to this space is a freestanding wall of cabinetry featuring wall ovens and the stovetop. Its other purpose is to hide the laundry/larder beyond, again using the pressed tin panels as a sliding divider between the two spaces.
All cabinets were custom made by Form Design using solid timber framing for greater durability, partnered with MDF panels and cast iron knobs for handles.
