This Ponting Fitzgerald creation was a unique job for Form Design. The exacting brief from the client saw the use of very high-end materials used in unique ways.
The kitchen island is concrete and was poured directly into place then polished onsite. Beneath it and behind it are custom made cabinets and drawers by Form Design. They are built using custom-width, veneer panels that incorporates a grain pattern to look more like solid timber. A pleated effect has been given to the cooktop bench splashback, in stainless steel. Below this a set of custom made drawers, also manufactured in stainless steel.
The use of basalt stone tiles on the bathroom cabinetry pushed the boundaries. Engineered framing and steel brackets as well as special Blum hardware with runners that hold up to 70kg were required to handle these heavy drawer fronts. With all of this Form Design were still able to give the client push to open drawers.
In the master bedroom, Form Design built the headboard for the bed then worked with a specialist upholsterer to finish it in embossed leather. The main bedroom ensuite comprises a floating cabinet using heavy basalt tiles, suspended on two posts coming up from the floor, which also acted to conceal the services such as plumbing and electrical.
A downstairs bar features a massive Macrocarpa bookmatched benchtop that sits atop a solid hot rolled 5mm steel top with custom made black steel handles for the cabinetry below.
