The revamp of this residence provided opportunity to design and build multiple pieces of furniture and cabinetry, along with full bathroom fitout and kitchen refurbishment.
In the kitchen, some of the existing cabinetry was retained with the new design requiring extra units to be added to the kitchen. The existing cabinet carcasses were fitted with new fronts and a new Corian benchtop. This manmade resin alternative provided a seamless, flawless finish to cover the extensive bench area.
The use of solid American walnut and walnut veneer brings a warmth and richness to custom made furniture pieces, such as coffee tables, couches, work desk, bed bases, and sideboards. Templating was used for several pieces to ensure there was no wastage of this precious material.
In the bathroom, a Carrara marble top was custom made to fit the floating cabinetry, which are hung off concealed steel brackets. Above this, the mirror-fronted cabinets have been carefully drilled to mount lights. Careful handling was required so that the mirror did not crack.
In the bedroom, a set of custom made drawers out of Carrara marble, have become part of the wall.
Form Design also custom built a set of bunk beds that had to be installed in five pieces. Manufactured from MDF and sprayed with paint, a set of recessed strip lights allows better visibility for the bottom bunk.
